Introduction
Reporting to the Senior Geologist, the Geologist is responsible to ensure identification, definition and maximum extraction of the mineral resource.
Job description
- Execute geological functions in conjunction with the mining processes/design and identify and rectify problems in the mining area.
- Monitor sectional KPIs to ensure that mining production targets are achieved.
- Reconcile and report daily, weekly and monthly production data.
- Monitor downhole probing and related data management.
- Conduct drill hole planning and execute drilling plans.
- Implement Quality Assurance Quality Control protocols to ensure data quality and integrity.
- Prepare geological reports to comply with industry reporting standards.
- Monitor drilling practices to increase productivity.
- Participate with preparations of short, medium and long-term drilling plans to meet business objectives.
- Provide input and supervise drilling projects when required.
- Review sectional policies, procedures, work instructions and technical manuals annually.
- Identify, design, coordinate and monitor capital projects.
- Identify and implement cost saving initiatives within area of responsibility.
- Comply with SHER standards.
Minimum requirements
- BSc Hons Degree (NQF Level 8) in Geology.
- 5 years relevant working experience in a similar role.
- Open pit uranium exploration experience will be an added advantage.
- Experience and working knowledge using Micromine or other mining related software packages.
- Valid code B Driver’s License.
